Hillside Foundation & Retaining Wall
Project description
A sloped lot needs more than a slab. This job started with excavation and trench prep, then footing forms set to grade, then full-height foundation wall forms braced against the hill so the pour would hold true.
The retaining wall was formed and poured in the same sequence so the foundation, the wall, and the grade all work together instead of fighting each other.
The challenge on a hillside
Every form on this site had to be set against a slope, which means bracing does the real work. Plumb walls come from bracing that is checked and rechecked before concrete arrives, not from luck on pour day.
Access was tight and the ground was uneven, so material staging and a clean site mattered as much as the formwork itself.
The finished pour
Straight, plumb walls stripped clean, with the retaining wall tied into the foundation and the site left ready for backfill and the next trade.
